This is my FIRST POST in my newly created Blogging Website! I know it is not great yet. There are features I still need to add, and improvements I would like to make, but , just as Ruth said in her Day 5 lecture for Build Your Blog Bootcamp, I need to JUST START!
It has long been my dream to become some kind of a writer. Although, I have to admit, years ago when I went to college, the only writing I wanted to do was computer programming. Then, as I started my career, the computer world changed drastically with the introduction of Windows and WWW. My programming skills did not seem useful anymore.
To pursue my interest in writing I have been making some effort to improve my writing skills and find uses for it. In a writing class that I am taking online, I have been introduced to the idea of writing a blog. To start up my own blog, I bought a hosting package and a domain name from In-Motion Hosting, installed Word Press, and set up my blog with a WP theme. But then I put it aside for a few months, doubting that I could do anything with it.
Now, while completing the 5 day Build Your Blog Bootcamp, offered by Ruth Soukup, I have returned to the same website I had started. I have followed a step by step process to get it running. First, I chose a new WP theme to install. The first theme I had installed included a picture, but when I installed the new theme, I was disappointed to find that the picture shown with it was not included. The only option I saw was to replace it with a photo of my own. But to fit in the heading, the picture needed to be horizontally set, and almost all of my photos are verticle. I found one photo that seemed ok, but I intend to replace it soon.
In this blog, I hope to encourage my readers, (and myself,) to improve their health with better eating habits and fitness; take a look at some things we do that damage our health; and explore a few other interesting things in our world. I will also try to make use of some new services offered by AVON to improve my Avon business using my blog. I expect to display some product ideas with a link to my online store to allow the viewer to purchase. I may also include an affiliate link for Amazon, and maybe I will find other possibilities for income from the website.
